About the Project
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded the Investing in Sustainability and Partnerships for Inclusive Growth and Regenerative Ecosystems “INSPIRE” Project to the Gerry Roxas Foundation on September 14, 2021. INSPIRE is a five-year project that aims to contribute to NRSG’s goal of advancing natural resource resilience, security, and governance through the increased participation and critical engagement of CSOs, media, Indigenous Peoples (IPs), local communities, and the private sector.
About the Post
The Livelihoods and Enterprise Development Officer will monitor and provide technical assistance to grantees engaged in supporting conservation-based livelihoods and enterprises. S/he will focus on ensuring the successful implementation of livelihood and enterprise development activities that align with conservation goals, fostering sustainable economic opportunities for local communities while promoting environmental stewardship.
Objectives
The Livelihoods and Enterprise Development Officer will:
- Identify and provide technical guidance and support to grantees in the design, implementation, and monitoring of conservation-based livelihood and enterprise development activities;
- Ensure that livelihood and enterprise initiatives are aligned with broader conservation goals and contribute to the well-being of communities and sustainable management of natural resources;
- Strengthen the capacity of grantees and local communities to develop and manage sustainable enterprises; and,
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of livelihood and enterprise activities, ensuring compliance with project objectives and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for grantees regarding livelihood and enterprise-related activities, providing guidance and addressing technical assistance needs and implementation issues that may arise.
- Provide ongoing technical support to grantees in the development and implementation of livelihood and enterprise development activities, ensuring that these activities are economically viable and environmentally sustainable.
- Facilitate INSPIRE-organized training and capacity-building sessions for grantees and community members on topics such as business development/planning, product development, value chain analysis, market access, and sustainable financing, among others.
- Conduct periodic check-ins with grantees and regular field visits to grantee project sites to monitor the progress of livelihood and enterprise development activities and provide hands-on support, where needed.
- Prepare regular reports on the progress of livelihood and enterprise development activities, including achievements, challenges, and lessons learned, for periodic progress reports and special reports that USAID may require.
- Document best practices and results/impacts of livelihood and enterprise development interventions, and develop case studies, and success stories from grantee projects highlighting conservation components.
- Ensure that all project documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and accessible.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Economics, Agribusiness, Community Development, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in livelihood and enterprise development, focusing on conservation or natural resource management.
- Demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance and capacity building to community-based or civil society organizations.
- Strong understanding of sustainable livelihoods frameworks and conservation-based enterprise development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to conduct monitoring and evaluation of livelihood and enterprise development projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to travel to remote project sites as required.
